The story goes that brothers Augusto & Angelo Agnelli began roasting coffee from a small shop in the Via Fieno Milan sometime between1904 and 1905. Driven by a desire to produce coffees with Il vero sapore del chicco, the true taste of the berry, the brothers spent long hours perfecting and blending their roasted beans. Whilst supplying coffee to local eateries and hotels they developed a house blend and began selling coffees and biscotti directly to customers in 1907.
Augusto and Angelo were perfectionists, and Angelo recorded their recipes and methods with painstaking care. It is said that their original roasting recipes were later discovered in a box of old family photos.
The Alpresso 1907 Coffee Company supplies authentic artisan roasted coffees to discerning customers, sourcing the beans and roasting them using equipment that Augusto and Angelo might have used and would easily recognise.
Alpresso coffees such as Augustos’ Blend, and Angelos’ Premio are robust and flavoursome whilst Dolce Maria is a smooth delicate pure Arabica coffee, and the Casa Miscela 1907 is the perfect all round coffee for cappuccinos and lattes. Other bespoke blends such as The Via Fieno blend are examples of the magic art of coffee roasting; dark and strong this can be drunk with a fine cigar.
The Alpresso Coffee Company offers coffees in retail versions for the discerning public and in larger quantities for the quality caterer. Demonstrations of equipment and samples can be arranged to allow customers to taste what we mean by Il vero sapore del chicco.
